Are Democrats Racists?

There is a movement afoot to toss a black politician under the proverbial bus. And it ain’t happening in the Republican Party, my friends. No, no…we need look no further than to the great state of New York where the establishment of the Democrat Party, all the way up to the White House, is pressuring David Paterson – the state’s first ever black governor – to step aside and not run in next year. With Paterson out of the way, Andrew Cuomo – oh, yes, a white guy - would likely be the nominee.

So, what say you Lib media? Bill Cosby? Maureen Dowd? JIMMY CARTER? Are the Democrats all racists for opposing David Paterson and telling him to get the heck out of the way? Or can only Republicans who oppose a black man be racist?

ALBANY, N.Y. – Gov. David Paterson isn’t scrapping his plans to run for the office he inherited 18 months ago despite growing pressure from Washington and intervention by the Rev. Al Sharpton, who has contacted the governor and the White House over his concern.

A senior Democratic adviser close to Paterson said Sunday that the state’s first black governor is still planning to run and is focusing on the state’s fiscal crisis. The adviser spoke on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak for Paterson.

The governor’s office has refused to comment since reports Saturday night revealed the Washington-based effort to persuade the governor to drop out of the 2010 race. That would pave the way for the far more popular Andrew Cuomo, the state’s first-term attorney general.

The Rev. Al Sharpton said Sunday on his radio show that he has spoken to the White House and Paterson about his concern that Democrats do what is best for the people of New York. He wouldn’t say whether he was advising Paterson to drop out.

Obama has not spoken to Paterson about the race, said a senior White House official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive political matter. But it’s no secret that Democrats — in New York, in Washington and at the White House — are very concerned about Paterson’s re-election bid.

The White House has not ordered Paterson to leave the race and would not do so, the official continued, saying only the governor can make the decision about what’s right for him, the party and the state. But Obama’s concern of losing the governor’s office in such a key state has been communicated to Paterson and his advisers, the White Office official said.

Another senior Democratic adviser in New York said those seeking Paterson’s withdrawal are suggesting he could land a Washington job in the administration. The adviser spoke on the condition of anonymity because the official wasn’t authorized to speak for Paterson or the New York congressional delegation.

Update On Previous Post

Earlier this week I posted about the attack of a white student on a school bus in Belleville, MO. At the time of this post, police called this incident racially motivated. However, they have now rescinded that assertion. Likewise, I wanted to correct the record.

Jimmy Carter: Criticism Of Obama Is Racist

Well, look who is the latest to cry racism. None other than former failed President, Jimmy Carter. Not only is it outrageous enough that Carter makes these baseless accusations, but biased NBC anchor Brian Williams can’t help himself either; framing the recent protests in the worst possible light. Here’s the video.

Ironically enough, Carter himself has been accused of being an anti-Semite. While no one can be sure what is in the hearts and minds of any man, let’s take a look at just one of Carter’s ACTIONS. Carter himself actually accepted money from a known anti-Semite. This is what Alan DershowitzAlan Dershowitz of all people – had to say about Carter:

Recent disclosures of Carter’s extensive financial connections to Arab oil money, particularly from Saudi Arabia, had deeply shaken my belief in his integrity. When I was first told that he received a monetary reward in the name of Shiekh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan, and kept the money, even after Harvard returned money from the same source because of its anti-Semitic history, I simply did not believe it. How could a man of such apparent integrity enrich himself with dirty money from so dirty a source?

And let there be no mistake about how dirty the Zayed Foundation is. I know because I was involved, in a small way, in helping to persuade Harvard University to return more than $2 million that the financially strapped Divinity School received from this source. Initially, I was reluctant to put pressure on Harvard to turn back money for the Divinity School, but then a student at the Divinity School, Rachael Lea Fish showed me the facts.

They were staggering. I was amazed that in the twenty-first century there were still foundations that espoused these views. The Zayed Centre for Coordination and Follow-up, a think-tank funded by the Shiekh and run by his son, hosted speakers who called Jews “the enemies of all nations,” attributed the assassination of John Kennedy to Israel and the Mossad and the 9/11 attacks to the United States’ own military, and stated that the Holocaust was a “fable.” (They also hosted a speech by Jimmy Carter.) To its credit, Harvard turned the money back. To his discredit, Carter did not.

Jimmy Carter was, of course, aware of Harvard’s decision, since it was highly publicized. Yet he kept the money. Indeed, this is what he said in accepting the funds: “This award has special significance for me because it is named for my personal friend, Sheik Zayed bin Sultan al-Nahyan.” Carter’s personal friend, it turns out, was an unredeemable anti-Semite and all-around bigot.

In reading Carter’s statements, I was reminded of the bad old Harvard of the nineteen thirties, which continued to honor Nazi academics after the anti-Semitic policies of Hitler’s government became clear. Harvard of the nineteen thirties was complicit in evil. I sadly concluded that Jimmy Carter of the twenty-first century has become complicit in evil.

Again, I point this out not to accuse Carter of anti-Semitism – but outright hypocrisy on issues of racism. He is no position to accuse anyone of racism given his actions.

Moreover, one of the most comical things about Carter’s charges is that the current leader of the Republican Party is BLACK! His name is Michael Steele! If Republicans are generally racist, how in heck did he win the election to be the party’s chairman, I ask?!

Leftist accusations of racism are growing tiresome. Carter is just the latest to fall back on Page 1 of the Democratic playbook. Maureen Dowd (and Carter for that matter) accused Joe Wilson of being racist for his outburst at Obama’s speech last week. Mike Lupica accused Mark Levin of being a racist simply for opposing Obam policies. The list goes on.

Our country has come a long way on race. Certainly some racism still exists and it probably always will. But when the charge of racism is used at every turn, when every criticism of Obama is contrued as racist, then the problem lies with those making the accusation. The Carter’s and Dowd’s of the world are the ones fanning the flames of race. They are the ones who don’t want the issue to disappear because they realize that it is an issue they can use as a wedge to further their political and ideoligical agendas.

It is, my friends, utterly despicable.

Race Attack On School Bus In St. Louis [UPDATED]

[UPDATE 9-19-09] At the time of this post, police called this incident racially motivated. However, they have now rescinded that assertion.

So much for post-racialism in Obama’s America. I guess his address to them last week didn’t quite sink in.

Watch here, as 2 black teens beat the heck out of a fellow white student…after he sat in the ‘wrong’ seat on the bus to school.

Nice. Apparently, only one student tried to intervene and stop the beating. The rest of the kids yuk it up, egg it on or sit on their hands and do nothing.

Too bad these kids are only in high school. Otherwise, they’d be able to have a beer with the President after this. Instead, I guess it’ll be milk and cookies.

Is This Racism?

Alicia Menendez: Divisive Race-Baiter

As a conservative, we are accustomed to the Left hurling vicious, one-liner attacks our way.

Sexist. Homophobe. Racist.

These are always the default arguments for Leftists bereft of any logical thought and an inability to put forth a coherent counterpoint to conservative views.

However, I have to admit. The one attack that irks me most is being called racist, for nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing. Nor is it true of most people I have conversed with in my life who share similar views. Conservatism, as it were, is a color-blind ideology.

Thus, when someone like Alicia Menendez, daughter of our fair Senator Bob Menendez, pens an article baselessly accusing Republicans of not caring about Latinos I can’t help but be angered. Not just as a conservative, but as an American who wants nothing but prosperity for all citizens.

You see, the real race-baiters are people like Alicia Menendez who do not treat people as individuals. Rather, Menendez prefers to segment us into groups and then pit us against one another; all, of course, with one aim - gaining political power.

For demogogues like Miss Menendez, pointing to the widespread appointments of Hispanics throughout the Bush Administration will not matter. Pointing to the appointment of Alberto Gonzales as the first ever Attorney General, fruitless.

You see, to Miss Menendez, GOPers are anti-Latino if they do not send a representative to a meeting held by the controversial group La Raza; a group that favors open borders and amnesty and consists of Mexicans who believe that the Southwest territory rightfully belongs to Mexico. And, of course, no such current attack is complete without a mention of Sonia Sotomayor.

This inability (or unwillingness) to connect with Latino voters brings back sweet, sweet memories of 2008, when right-wing extremists alienated Hispanics by pulling the GOP rhetoric to the right on immigration. Last fall, the contenders for the Republican Presidential nomination, save John McCain, all declined invitations to a Univision-sponsored presidential debate. Here we are, a year later, and the GOP is still turning down invites.

I’m a progressive Latina—I should be throwing a fiesta, right? Democrats have an opportunity to lock-down the fastest-growing, most brand-loyal group in the country and Republicans aren’t even trying to compete. On paper, it’s great.

But regardless of which party Latino voters show up for on election day, our community needs Democratic and Republican lawmakers to care about our issues the other 364 days of the year. And if the GOP cannot get it together enough to send a high-profile representative to one of the largest gatherings of Latino leaders in the country, what should we expect when comprehensive immigration reform hits the House floor? More of the same rhetoric? Another no-show?

Just as the story of Sonia Sotomayor, a Puerto Rican, overlaps with the story of so many Americans, the concerns of Hispanic-Americans are shared by much of the country. When a community who voted for health care reform, economic revival and comprehensive immigration reform is ignored, we are all ignored.

That’s bad for Latinos, it’s bad for immigrants, and it’s bad for America.

Somehow, I’m sure, Democrat opposition to Miguel Estrada was not ‘anti-Latino’ in Miss Menendez’ mind. Another fact to be ignored in the quest for political power.

All of this would be of little consequence if this tactic were not effective. Unfortunately, all too many Leftists seem to buy into it hook, line and sinker. Ergo, you see vicious comments from her readers such as…

The problem is not that the Republicans don’t care about Latinos. The problem is they consider Latinos to be sub-human law breakers and either dislike or actively hate them.

Its not just Latinos that the GOP hates, they also hate blacks, gays, Arabs, Muslims, Canadians, Europeans (especially the French), Asians, and liberals. Did I leave anyone out? That’s basically the whole world and 70% of America that they hate. GOPers are one sad pathetic, bigoted, racist hate filled group of people.

The republicans and especially those like buchanan, limbaugh, hannity, coulter, and beck firmly believe that white people are superior to people of color – any color. They are terrified of losing their presumed preeminent position and therefore spew anger, hate, and racism. They have not yet come to grips with the declining demographics of the GOP base.

…to name a few.

Miss Menendez, let me tell you this. What is bad for America is not that the GOP doesn’t address La Raza. It’s not that Republicans or conservatives oppose your socialist agenda. What is bad for America is when you accuse fellow Americans of not caring a whit for their brethren, without possibly knowing what is in their hearts. What is bad for America – truly bad for America – is when people like you attempt to stoke the fires of race in order to promote your agenda.  For so doing, you ought to be utterly and unabashedly ashamed of yourself.

AG Holder: On Race We Are ‘A Nation Of Cowards’

Could you imagine John Ashcroft making an inflammatory statement like this and not seeing a full-blown attack from the Left, with accusations of racism?

WASHINGTON (AP) – Attorney General Eric Holder described the United States Wednesday as a nation of cowards on matters of race, saying most Americans avoid discussing unresolved racial issues. In a speech to Justice Department employees marking Black History Month, Holder said the workplace is largely integrated but Americans still self-segregate on the weekends and in their private lives.

“Though this nation has proudly thought of itself as an ethnic melting pot, in things racial we have always been and continue to be, in too many ways, essentially a nation of cowards,” said Holder, nation’s first black attorney general.

This reminded me of a little controversy with Bill O’Reilly back in 2007. O’Reilly was having an open and frank discussion about race with Fox News contributor Juan Williams on his radio program. Williams, of course, is an African-American.

Well during the discussion O’Reilly made some remarks about his expereience while at a diner in Harlem with Al Sharpton that weren’t exactly well-put.

O’Reilly told his radio audience that he dined with civil rights activist Al Sharpton at Sylvia’s recently and “couldn’t get over the fact that there was no difference” between the black-run restaurant and others in New York City.

However, this was only a brief snipet of the entire conversation; a conversation which was actually critical of racism. Yet the media and groups like Media Matters jumped all over him for it.

My point is this: If we are a nation of cowards when it comes to race relations, as Holder says, then a lot of blame lays with the media and certain segments of the American Left. When groups such as these are so quick to accuse people (whites in particular) of being racists the minute they make the littlest comment on race relations (let alone take their comments out of context), then it tends to suppress the dialogue and only serves to inflame both sides.
