Jose, sorry you are so ignorant about waste in education. As this blog alludes and the NorthJersey.com articles prove, the problem with public education spending isn't the teachers in the classroom but the absurd and unchecked spending of the administration. Bergen Vocational Schools are probably the greatest example. The superintendent is not only the 14th highest paid official in the state, he also recieves two district cars for personal use, just recieved a rennovatioon to his personal office exceeding $100,000. He Recently hired a director of international travel at nearly $100,000 a year, and hired yet another assistant superintendent at over a quarter of a million dollars. Meanwhile teachers have been cut, teachers hours have been reduced, and school programs such as language have been reduced. I think if anyone has a problem with the spending in schools, we should stop targeting the teachers who show up everyday for our kids anddo their best to offer the best education for OUR children and target these corrupt administration who have been robbing us, and more importantly our children. I think either the Bergen County Executive needs to address this fire the cronies he appointed to the Bergen Vocational Board of Ed (These guys are appointed not elected) Or we should fire him.

Don't get me wrong. I think many teachers work quite hard and deserve decent pay. In fact, I know several teachers who work 7 days a week throughout the school year, including nights. And I aslo empathize with teachers who have to deal with a lot of red tape and parents who do not support them.

That said, I am against waste and I don't feel that spending equates with results. There needs to be some accountability and there isn't really any. Furthermore, the teacher's union knows how to milk the system. It's one of the biggest problems New Jersey has and why our taxes continue to rise.
