Railroaded By The Rail Tunnel
Talk about off the tracks. Just one month after doubling tolls on the Parkway and Turnpike to fund a rail tunnel into NYC, the project’s cost estimates are already off by $1.1B — and ground hasn’t even been broken yet! So, that begs the question: will Corzine have to raise tolls and stick it to taxpayers even more to make up the huge gap?
Senate Republican Leader Tom Kean and Assembly Republican Leader Alex DeCroce posed that very question here.

Ah yes, cost overrun. In this post of mineI cite Mayor Daley’s opinion of cost overrun in re: to public education:
“But again, when you say it cost overrun, you know what the thing that bothers me? It’s alright in the suburban area to build quality education facilities. But when it comes to Chicago it seems the media always talks about cost overrun. There’s no cost overrun when you put the best for a facility like this at Kennedy King. I have no problems justifying any cost overruns in regards to any program for Kennedy King or city colleges or board of education because you want to build the finest.”
Any chance Corzine is as explicitly offensive (to the taxpayer) as that?
