Congratulations To Barack Obama
While I have issues with Barack Obama on a number of levels, and I seriously fear for our future under nearly unchecked Democratic power in Washington, Obama deserves congratulations for tonight’s victory.
The country faces serious, serious challenges in the coming years and I can only hope he is able to tackle them in a way that leaves us better off.
That said, we will be watching closely and passionately opposing him and the Congress when they are pushing an agenda that is not in the country’s best interest.

I am not an Obama-hater. I simply disagree with the philosophy he has espoused. I’m not saying he doesn’t scare me. He does. But we will just have to wait and see how this plays out.

This is a great social organization and has had many great successes to date and has great plans currently in place.

You don’t have to be a master strategist to know that if your intel says Osama bin Laden is held up in the mountains between Afghanistan and Pakistan you don’t commit the lion’s share of your forces in Iraq. Not splitting your forces is right out of the textbook. Neglecting the Afghan Theater not only cost lives but cost us Pakistan as an ally, and empowered Iran. There was no Intel that connected 9/11 to Iraq. There was Intel that connected 9/11 to Saudia Arabia and we didn’t see the need to blast that country to Hell.
How did they not know the limitations of our forces? How did they not know culture of the enemy? How could they not know the cost of occupation?
If we had the full commitment of forces in Afghanistan from the very beginning I believe bin Laden would be dead by now and the Taliban wiped out. Afghans would be looking forward to shopping at Walmart.
History will tell that the invasion of Iraq is one of the greatest blunders in military history since Hitler’s decision to invade the Soviet Union.
Now, Obama says he wants to withdraw from Iraq to concentrate what is left of our forces (that hasn’t been worn out) to concentrate on Afghanistan. Let me prepare you now that if he makes good on that promise it will be a very ugly bloody campaign just as Guadacanal was an ugly bloody battle. More importantly if we have to go military on Iran we would have better field position from Afghanistan. I was convinced that war with Iran was unavoidable under McCain and without the return of the draft we would of suffered staggering losses on the ground because national guard units were meant to be last line of defense and you need elite combat troops in Afghanistan but I also believe we would of been successful on the water because there is no match to our Navy and Air Force. I believe Iran, in the face of overwhelming international support for Obama, will negotiate. Under Bush the only full support we have is from the UK. One by one our allies, including Canada and Spain, have walked away from us because of Iraq.
The bottom line, prepare yourself for some brutal news from Afghanistan so your devotion and patriotism will be tested. I try to imagine reports in the newspaper and radio during WWII of entire battalions being wiped out at Guadacanal and how stedfast the people were back then. I am not sure Americans are that tough anymore.

And I hope you are wrong about Afghanistan.
Lastly, I would just say that I worry very much about what Israel will have to do if Iran continues on its present path and Obama manage the situation appropriately.

If Iran chooses to not to negotiate it is because our position when Obama takes the helm is really poor and they know it. You can’t negotiate from a position of weakness and if you take a hard look at it threatening military action when it is common knowledge all over the world that your military is extremely limited and overextended is a position of weakness.
Their strategy is to bleed us dry, and they are good at it. If we can stop the bloodletting we have a chance. I wait to see what happens as you do.
